About the event
Exploring Baptism is a relaxed and welcoming session for parents/carers who are considering or preparing for their child’s Baptism (Christening) at St Bart’s, a Church of England parish church.
Whether you’re new to church, returning after a long time, or simply wanting to understand what the day will involve, this is a chance to explore Baptism in an open, friendly setting.
We’ll look at the different baptism-related services available, what Baptism means in the Christian faith, and what actually happens during the service itself. We’ll also talk through the promises that parents and godparents make on behalf of a child, and what those promises might look like in real family life: prayer, belonging to the church community, and helping your child grow in faith over time.
The session will also include guidance on choosing godparents and understanding their role, along with plenty of space to ask questions about practicalities and next steps.
Refreshments will be provided. This session includes essential information for anyone planning a Baptism at St Bart’s.
You do not need to have a baptism date booked in in order to come.
