About the event
The Easter Liturgy
The Easter Liturgy is a vibrant and meaningful celebration of arrival of Easter.
This service begins in the early hours before sunrise, where we gather in darkness outside the church around a bonfire, symbolizing the light of Christ dispelling the darkness of sin and death.
As the flames flicker and dance, we light the Paschal candle, which represents the risen Christ, illuminating the path of hope and renewal. The candle leads our way into the church, still in darkness.
We hear the story of our salvation in readings and prayers, and when the sun is risen, we proclaim the risen Jesus.
We renew our baptism vows with splashes of water from the font.
We celebrate the first Holy Communion of Easter in the light of the new day.
The service is full of symbolism, and is definitely worth getting up for. Bacon sandwiches and bubbly for breakfast afterwards!
